"Yes, the curl is inherent in the material. There is a very slight side to side bow (high center, lowere edges) which is a non-issue when stropping as opposed to a cup (high edges, low center) in which the blade will never make full contact. These also have a slight curve end to end easily straightened with even a the slightest tension in use.
As for draw, I feel they are rather high. if you have never used a leather strop one would not know the difference but to me with year of leather strop use I would rate them as having a heavy draw in which a very light pressure is best.
Overall I still prefer leather and would only choose my Vegan models if you choose to avoid leather products or you really want a care free roll it up travel only strop. If either of these is not a requirement I still think leather is the ideal strop material.
Now on the vegan moral dilemma issue, and I am not a vegan, these are made in the same shop and with the same tools used on my leather products.
For most this is a non-issue but many Vegans are completely against any animal product use and choose not to support any business which advocates, or profit from it......that is not me then.
Oddly, many online Vegan based stores will have blogs about animal cruelty etc.... but sell products coming off of the same production lines or out of the same factories producing animal based products. They should at least let their customers know they are supporting these firms.
Thanks,
Tony "
